Writer's Block: Didn't see it coming

What has been the most surprising cultural event of 2010?

I didn't see Finn and Rachel's break-up making me so emotionally distraught, and just when my final essays are due and I have exams...Ryan Murphy, how could you?

Meme :)

Sorry I have been a lurker for a while, I'm in my final year at uni and what with researching my dissertation as well as all my normal classes and trying to figure out what I want to do next year, it has been pretty hectic to say the least. I think I've friended some new people since the last of these memes so please fill it out if you have time! Hope you all are doing well. Who else is excited for Harry Potter this weekend? I am!! Have my tickets booked for Friday night since August, so excited!!

May. 26th, 2010

Ok, firstly. how's everyone doing? I just finished my exams so I'm free for the next 4ish months, bliss! The great thing about finishing uni for the summer is catching up on t.v that I missed. So. CASTLE FINALE! ( I'd do a Spoilers cut but I don't know how to so...Read at your own peril)

I wanted to thump my computer screen. Argh! How could they? All of them looking at Beckett through the door, hoping that it would happen, Kate's face at the end, Castle going away because of Demming, it was too much. My shipper heart could barely take it. I have to say though, I honestly liked Demming and if Castle wasn't in the picture I'd be perfectly happy for him and Beckett to be together, but Castle is, so TEAM CASKETT!!! Also, in the ep when Espisito's ex-partner is supposed to be dead and all that, when he introduced Ryan as his partner and Castle as his other partner....swoon! I love their boys club, it is so sweet :)

Glee in Ireland airs either a day behind America on TV3 or on the British station E4 the Monday afterwards. Unfortunately as I was away last Wednesday without a t.v, I had to watch Dream On on Monday. As Neil Patrick Harris is a GOD and I LOVE him, to say I was excited for this ep is a little bit of an understatement! I know there doesn't seem to be many Rachel/Finn shippers in the back nine, I still adore them. Jesse's Girl? Possibly the most FTW song ever. That said, I can't wait for Faithfully in the finale. Jesse St. James is a bit like Demming for me, perfectly fine if there wasn't another guy who could make a couple so EPIC that all alternatives are unacceptable. Can't wait for Idina Menzel and Lea Michele's duet. Singing win right there :) I Dreamed A Dream was amazing, really spot on. Love how the writers wrote Idina Menzel's storyline. Artie I adore. I don't know what it is but I swoon all the time, Safety Dance was fantastic but so heartbreaking as well as Dream A Little Dream. Oh Artie, I LOVE YOU!

Ok, so t.v aside, real life. Last week I spent four days in Baltimore in Cork, Ireland. I would definitely visit there if you plan on coming to Ireland, it is breathtaking (besides Dublin of course 'cause Dublin is the best place in the world obviously :P). I relaxed with some of my uni friends and it was just what I needed, until I made the journey home however. Before I continue, this must be said, the following is typical Helen behaviour. If something can go wrong for me or I can do something awkwardly then you can be assured I will. No exceptions. So onto my story. Basically when we were coming back we needed to be up at 5 to get a taxi at 6 to bring us to the bus station. So obviously we went to the pub the last night, we HAD to introduce our friend's Brazilian boyfriend to Irish culture considering his boyfriend (our friend) isn't much of a pub goer. Haha, for once I live up to the Irish stereotype! Anyway we only got 4 hours of sleep so we were all tired the next day. The journey started off grand, we got the taxi to Skibereen, and then the coach to Cork city. The train was fine as well. See this is because I was traveling with other people. When we reached Dublin we all went our separate ways. I was to get two buses home but I had never done this journey before and needless to say I got lost. I was waiting for a bus for ages and Ireland is weirdly experiencing nice weather which we are not accustomed to, anyway I got off the bus at the the wrong stop, like not even close to where I was going because I didn't think to ask the bus driver where I was, you know I thought I knew my home city...obviously not. Cue me wandering around for two hours dragging a suitcase and a novelty sheep handbag with me. Thanks to my big brother though, I eventually got home, poor him he had to deal with two hysterical phone calls from me, I'm pretty sure I looked a state.  I had an oddly fashioned quiff which had been slept on, not a scrap of make-up, on the verge of  over-tired and emotional tears with my bed hoody thrown over my more normal clothes so that put all together, I was the type of person that others would try to not walk too closely to. Ah,  it was an experience to say the least!

After that stressful day it has been lovely to catch up with my friends who I don't get to see very often because of uni, I'm loving summer so far and all the parties, knowing that me being out isn't detrimental to my education woohoo!! Anyways hope all of you are having a great summer so far :)

New Obsessions...

So as the new userpic implies I have very recently gotten WAY into Castle. I loved Nathan Fillion before this but now even more so...wow. I'm a sucker for the will they won't they relationship in tv shows...Rachel and Ross anyone? I've watched basically all the episodes in less than a week when I should be doing college work. Argh >:( Oh well...I have writing an awful lot lately I've two drabbles to be up here soon and a teaser chapter from my new James Sirius story which was you know unplanned. Hugo is eluding me lately, I need to be in a certain mind frame to write him and at the moment I am not able to get there...So without further ado, my little post will now conclude. Summary: Castle: Great. Beckett/Castle: Can't wait! Nathan Fillion: My new husband to be. Writing: Going ok, expect update soon :)

Bad News....

So... let me start off by saying, I'm clumsy. You know in movies they had those idiotically clumsy girls whom you know don't exist? They do. In the form of me. Last week, I spilt tea over the keyboard of my laptop, and now it is completley banjaxed and because I never backed up any of my files, every piece of fanfiction I've written...gone. Including my epic Hugo centric story. Oh and all my college work, but you know that's not important! So I'm in a delightful mood as you might imagine! Doesn't help, I've a tonne of college work to do, I've food poisioning, I'm broke and I fell down the stairs yesterday  and so my back is in agony. Yeah, great week this has turned out to be!!
Sorry, whinge over!

Just finished watching Love Actually for the billionth time, so in the mood for Christmas :)

The perils of boredom.

So, I've been reading notes for university tonight. Well I''m supposed to be! In the middle of doing so this story just popped into my head like JKR would say 'fully formed' haha :) It is just a oneshot, just shy of 400 words about Lucy Weasley and Lysander Scamander. It ties in with my other  oneshot, the one, which for me has reached epic proportions, it just keeps expanding itself and has changed dramatically since the idea for it came to me. Well enough about that story, please oh please read and review my other story at fanfiction.net, I still don't know how to do a cut here!  It can be found here: http://www.fanfiction.net/~bealen
Anywho, aside from the random oneshot which I found myself writing tonight, I'm back in university, three days in and loads of work to do already. Eek, won't be socializing for a while till I get (re-)adapted to the hectic schedule that unversity life is! Very, very excited to be back though. :) :) :)

By the by, got my hair cut, I'm blonder now with a full fringe, love playing with it!!

Drabble the second

Just finished participating in the nextgen drabble contest for Week 10, my humble offering can be read over on fanfiction.net on the link in the previous post. I'm really liking participating in these contests just for the fun of it. I get some experience too ;)

In other news my story is troubling me at the moment I have an ending in my head which I think I might use but I don't know if it is good enough, might be a bit anti-climatic. Anyways we'll see :)

Painting my room at the moment is the only real news I have. Was yellow, is now white. It is gonna be PINK!!! I'm really excited bout this actually, really gonna do my room up properly and make it age appropriate. Come next April I won't be a teenager any more so... I just realized pink doesn't seem really mature but it will be. Its all in the accessories ;)

Back to college in about two weeks, YAY!! Last year as a first year I had to do loads of different subjects even though I'm studying pure history. This year though I'm doing all history so I'm really nerding out! Haha after an unemployed summer will be nice to get back and have a purpose to my day.

Anywho, toodles xxx

First Drabble!!!!

Yay!! I just participated on the nextgen drabble contest for Week 9. While my story didn't win (I didn't expect it to) the thrill of actually putting one my stories on the interweb was good enough for me! Congrats to greenschist and open atclose. Their drabbles were fantastic! Anyway if you're interested in reading my humble offering it can be found here http://www.fanfiction.net/~bealen Any comments would be really welcome! Thanks in advance :)
